 The Dartmouth Conference in 1956 is often cited as the beginning of AI as a field, when a group of visionary scientists, including John McCarthy, Marvin Minsky, Nathaniel Rochester, and Claude Shannon, proposed investigating the possibility of making machines simulate intelligence.
